Timbaland says his virtual rap battle show -- featuring the likes of RZA and Lil Jon -- is catching the eyes of entertainment bigwigs ... but he and Swizz Beatz ain't ready to sell out just yet!!! The mega-producer joined "TMZ Live" and gave the lowdown on "Verzuz" -- the super-popular IG Live program he and Swizz Beatz created. 

 If you're not one of the millions of people who've tuned in to see T-Pain battle Lil Jon, Mannie Fresh destroyed by Scott Storch or RZA go up against DJ Premier, you're missing out on what Timbaland says is the next big thing in entertainment ... and many of Hollywood's movers and shakers agree. Timbaland tells us "Verzuz" is already generating a lot of corporate interest -- and he names names -- but he told us, right now, he and Swizz are keeping things natural and fun and do it for the culture. 

Translation: We ain't selling. At least not during the nearly nationwide quarantines. Afterward ... well, that's a different story. Keep in mind, Timbaland and Swizz didn't even promote the series, they just started it -- they originally went head-to-head -- and it grew organically. Now, Ja Rule wants to take on 50 Cent on "Verzuz." Fans want that battle badly, and Timbaland told us if their dreams will come true.

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland are two men in the industry who are unmatched and legendary. Collectively, they’ve created the soundtrack for the culture. Their catalogs are endless, and there’s not one major artist in the culture that they haven’t worked with in some capacity. As the two sat down for a one-on-one conversation, they swapped stories of how much they admire each other, gave up all the game and talked about everything from the importance of education to the difference between producers and beat-makers.

Swizz Beatz stated: “There’s a difference between a producer and a beat-maker. It’s a big difference. And I feel we need more produces than beat makers. We got a lot of beat-makers out there doing a lot of beats, but they not equipped enough to get in front of artists and construct a song. Challenge that artist in the studio. Let them know why your presence is important because... [The artist is] going to still collect beats and not care about who you are. But as a producer, [the artist] kind of [has] to go back and make that phone call [to you]. That’s why me and Timbaland are still in the business 20 years later.”

Timbaland shared the Swizz Beatz songs he wishes he would have made, saying, “Ain’t no song gonna come one in the club that’s hotter than mine,’ that’s what I said in my head because I’m competitive, but when that [Jigga My Nigga] came out…I was kind of like mad at Jay-Z for going to you. It was so hot. I was like damn I wish I could have made that beat. That was one of the illest beats I ever heard at that time. And then the other was [Money, Cash, Hoes].”

Swizz Beatz & Timbaland Taking The "Beat Battle" On Tour

One of the major highlights at this year's Summer Jam was the beat battle between veteran hitmakers Swizz Beatz and Timbaland. The event was both educational and exciting as the two producers showcased their production history to new and old rap fans.

In an interview with TMZ, Swizzy and Timbo are considering taking their beat battle on the road. Both men feel they didn’t finish what they started with their Summer Jam performance. "It was just only a warm-up," said Swizz. "[But] it something good for the people [and] we had fun doing it."

Over the past years, Timbo has tried to release his album more than once but he did not find a way, perhaps now he can release his album after he has earned all this attention with This Beat Battle.

Swizz Beatz x Timbaland Beat Battle (Hot 97 Summer Jam 2018)

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland announced in July last year that they will be taking part in a beat battle sometime in the future, which was very well received by Hip-Hop enthusiasts. Swizz challenged Timbo and the later accepted it. the two veteran producers have been delaying the much awaited show down. However, it looks like they planned to save it for an epic night like the Hot 97 Summer Jam concert. The two legendary producers went through some of their classic and iconic hits over the last two decades to battle each other.

 

Swizz Beatz wasn't kidding when he said his beat battle with Timbaland was "to be continued" -- the hip-hop icons are planning a tour.

With an official date being revealed soon, Swizz and Timbo continue to hype things up with a pair of IG clips featuring Nas and Kendrick Lamar sharing their thoughts.

While Nas seemed torn (“Y’all both my brothers. I just wanna watch it go down. The game needs it.”), Kung Fu Kenny seemed to lean towards Swizz as he broke down his days as a young rapper checking the credits of his favorite songs.

“When I first started rhyming… what I used to do was check the f*ckin’ credits,” Dot said. “I don’t know if the kids are doing it, but I’m gonna explain to you, Checking the credits is how I know I want to work with Swizz one day. I remember my favorite fuckin’ beats. Checking the credits and they say Swizz on it.”

Timbaland Accepts Swizz Beatz' Beat Battle Challenge

It’s ON!. Swizz Beatz has been teasing his friend Timbaland for a beat battle for weeks now and it looks like the epic competition will go down indeed.

On Thursday (July 13), Swizzy appeared onstage during the Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather press conference in New York, where he decided to issue a challenge against Timbo. Later, he reiterated the challenge in a social media-shared clip. 

“Timbaland don’t want any smoke, Tell him he can get this too. Don’t talk behind my back.” said Swizz.

 One day later, Timbaland responded in a video of his own, which was soundtracked by the “Game of Thrones” theme song. 

“Swizz,” You have woken up Tim Mosely. Challenge accepted. I’m with the smoke. That’s right. You hear that ‘Game of Thrones.’ You have woken up the king.” Timbaland Says.

 Swizz Beatz is coming off another high-profile battle. In February, he faced off against Just Blaze at a special event, where he shared an unreleased JAY-Z, DMX, Nas, and Jadakiss collaboration.

“We just doing it for the culture,” said Swizz. “We’re just vibing. We’re just going. This is something that hip-hop needs. I don’t got no pre-made beats. Everything I’m doing is right off the cuff. We’re going to go back and forth with our hits. We’re going to just have fun and let the people have fun.”


There is no word yet on when the Swizz vs. Timbo battle will go down.
