On Episode 7 of Cooking Up w/ Timbaland, the legendary producer takes us to his new home studio, The Beatclub HQ to show us 3 different beats that would be a great to start an album with.
Swizz Beatz andTimbalandare two men in the industry who are unmatched and legendary. Collectively, they’ve created the soundtrack for the culture. Theircatalogs are endless, and there’s not one major artist in the culture that they haven’t worked with in some capacity. As the two sat down for a one-on-one conversation, they swapped stories of how much they admire each other, gave up all the game and talked about everything from the importance of education to the difference betweenproducers and beat-makers.
Swizz Beatz stated:“There’s a difference between a producer and a beat-maker. It’s a big difference. And I feel we need more produces than beat makers. We got a lot of beat-makers out there doing a lot of beats, but they not equipped enough to get in front of artists and construct a song. Challenge that artist in the studio. Let them know why your presence is important because... [The artist is] going to still collect beats and not care about who you are. But as a producer, [the artist] kind of [has] to go back and make that phone call [to you]. That’s why me and Timbaland are still in the business 20 years later.”
Timbaland shared the Swizz Beatz songs he wishes he would have made, saying, “Ain’t no song gonna come one in the club that’s hotter than mine,’ that’s what I said in my head because I’m competitive, but when that [Jigga My Nigga] came out…I was kind of like mad at Jay-Z for going to you. It was so hot. I was like damn I wish I could have made that beat. That was one of the illest beats I ever heard at that time. And then the other was [Money, Cash, Hoes].”
At the 2018 Global Spin Awards, airing Thursday on REVOLT TV at 9 p.m. ET, veteran super-producer Timbaland will be recognized for his esteemed career with the Lifetime Achievement Award presented By Pharrell Williams
Lifetime Achievement honoree Timbaland added, “I love music. I was a DJ first, and when I didn’t like the music out there, I decided to make beats and create music for the fans. I’d really like to thank all the DJs that have played my records, and continue to play my records every day. It feels a little weird receiving this Lifetime Achievement Award, because I feel like I’m just getting started.”

Upon reflecting on his contributions to (and collaborations with) Missy Elliott, Aaliyah, JAY-Z, Justin Timberlake, Drake, Katy Perry, Nelly Furtado, Ginuwine, OneRepublic and more, Timbo himself weighs in on the celebration.
"DJs have always been the platform to letting artists know what's right and what's wrong," says Timbaland. "And I'm honored that they look at my music like that because, what I do, I put my life in it."
Timbaland & V Bozeman Talk New Music And 'Opera Noir'
Timbaland is bringing passion back.
The superproducer released the first single from his forthcoming album Opera Noir this week, titled “Smile” featuring V. Bozeman. REVOLT went to Atlantic City to catch up with the two artists and they maintained that the album will be soulful. Bozeman noted, “We really want to bring feeling back into music. It’s like when I turn on the radio all I hear are computers now. I don’t hear soul anymore.”
Timbaland, meanwhile, maintained that the body of work will come with visuals and tons of supporting elements. “Opera Noir is about Timbaland’s life. He knows how to mix that old school with new school so well, he’s mastered it…I think Opera Noir will elevate music as a whole,” Bozeman added.
Tink is gearing up to bring her new single and rework of Aaliyah’s classic track to life in the official video and Revolt TV got an early preview during a recent visit to the set.
Timbaland Introduces Tink as His New Artist (Video)
Timbaland has introduced us to Aaliyah, Ginuwine and helped revive the careers of Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado. But to hear the beat architect say it, his latest protégé almost out does them all. (Respect to Baby Girl, of course.)
he told REVOLT: "She's reinventing me, I had Lauryn Hill in my time, don't take this wrong. I was compared to Quincy Jones. Who's compared to Lauryn HIll? It has to be her. This is a reinvention of what I did with Aaliyah and Missy Elliott but for 2015." Teen singer/rapper/songeriter Tink is the latest act signed to Mosley Music Group through Epic Records and after her Winter's Diary 2Mixtape, which gained a huge buzz before Timbaland, the expectations for the pair's work together is sky high. Last week in New York, Timbo previewed new music from her, including a number where he sampled Aaliyah that will draw comparisons and maybe incite a few eye rolls in the process. But Tink proves she's up to the task. Forthcoming collabos with JAY Z and André 3000 show that Tink's versatile delivery, whether rapping or singing, fit comfortably on a track. But her solo material is what really impresses. Watch Timbaland talk about Tink, above, and be on the lookout for
