Everyone likes a good vibration — which is why recording artist Timbaland teamed up with SubPac, a Los Angeles-based startup that has created a wearable device set to redefine entertainment through new immersive physical-sound technology.

Timbaland says he is on a mission to bring thefeeling back (he’s already brought sexy back with Justin Timberlake) by connecting his passion of music with technology to revolutionize the way we consume, listen to and interact with music.

“You’re going to change the word listen to feel,” says Timbaland. “It’s about whole body, completing the experience.”

Timbaland is Holding Up "Think Tink" Album

For the Chicago-based Hip Hop/R&B multi-talented Tink, she follows in the footsteps of a long lineage of R&B power hitters in the house that Timbaland built. That’s the kind of pressure that bursts pipes and could crumble any veteran but the multitalented Chicago native has the poise of someone who has been here before. At just 21-years-old, Tink has successfully built a name and career for herself despite not having a proper debut album throughout her nearly five-year career.

Tink stopped by the DXHQ this past Thursday to discuss her latest mixtape Winter’s Diary 4 as well as the hold up with her debut album Think Tink.

“When I make music I want the fans to hear it the same day,” Tink exclaimed to the #DXLive panel of Editor-in-Chief Trent Clark, Justin “The Company Man” Hunte, and contributors Jake Rohn and Marcel Williams. “When you get signed and you’re working with a label and stuff like that you have deadlines and you have to meet certain schedules. So at times things can get crazy but if it were up to me I’d release everything the day I make it. That’s the type of vibe I get when I’m in the studio. I like timeless vibes. Music that you can drop in 2016 or 2020.” She went on to further explain, “Whenever the album [does drop]; if ever the album does drop, me and Tim we’ve been working very hard. The album is dope you feel me? It’s still sitting with Tim and when it comes out, if it does come out, people will definitely still feel good about it. It has that type of vibe,” she said.

She went on to explain the potential delays and how much quality and care Timbaland puts into everything he does.

“Timbaland is just a perfectionist. Work is never done. That’s the main thing. Timbaland is Timbo so his schedule is pretty crazy. The ball got rolling for it so fast that we were almost trying to play catch-up. I had already released four or five projects before I [signed with] Tim so people were already familiar [with me],” she broke down “You all know what he does for music. He likes to change and shift things – little tweaks here, little tweaks there – and he won’t stop until it’s perfect. You just have to really trust him.”

“Blow Tim up. If it was up to me, I would put that shit out like right now. I’m so ready. [But] in spite of that, more music to come. I’ve always been one to drop tapes no matter what’s going on. My fans can always find me dropping new music. I got some dope records coming out very very soon. Me and Jeremih were just in Chicago working. We have a dope record coming out. Me and Lil Herb [got a record coming out]. That’s big bro. We have a record coming out on Valentine’s Day. You guys heard it first.”

After releasing the Pharrell collab “WTF (Where They From)” at the tail end of 2015 and the Super Bowl single “Pep Rally” at the beginning of 2016, Missy Elliott stayed pretty quiet for the rest of the year.

But Today Missy Came out and dropped New Song called “I’m Better,” which is available Now On iTunes, with fellow VA veteran Lamb. 

 The stylish video, co-directed by Dave Meyers and Elliott herself, shows the rapper rocking a post-apocalyptic bird queen look and hanging out at the bottom of a pool. Watch below.

Nelly Furtado Premieres New Single “Cold Hard Truth”

Nelly Furtado is going down an alternative route with her new music and so far it’s really working. and Her latest drop from her forthcoming record The Ride is "Cold Hard Truth", the funkiest, most upbeat cut we’ve heard from her in a while.

“Islands Of Me” was one of 2016’s biggest surprises, while “Pipe Dreams” proved Nelly’s hazy, alt-pop credentials. Her winning streak continues with new single, “Cold Hard Truth,” which sounds like a cross between “Maneater” and one of the breezy, organic ditties from Folklore. Interview: Timbaland is Back in 2017!!!

Timbaland has been conquering the world of hip-hop and R&B for well-over a decade. With his production style being widely acclaimed, he has worked with many of today's biggest artists including Katy Perry and Justin Timberlake and has produced unforgettable chart-topping hits. After launching his Label - Mosley Music Group in 2006, he signed incredible talents such as OneRepublic, Nelly Furtado and Keri Hilson, who are now all continuing to this day to be huge successes.

 Most recently, in February 2016, he regrouped with Missy Elliott to produce the track ‘Someone Else Will’. From my recent interview with the man himself, it is clear to see that he is far from done yet, with more projects to come over 2017 and 2018.








In the Studio, have you been trying out any new technology to make sounds?
I Switched to Ableton. (Ableton Live is A Software Music Sequencer and Digital Audio Workstation for OS X and Windows.)

You’ve created countless hits, what song stands out for you as the best of Timbaland so far? Why?
I Love Them all, Seriously. Each One Represents a Part Of My Life And What I Was Going Through At That Time

Timbaland Joining Lifetime's Series "The Pop Game"

The upcoming show, from executive producers Queen Latifah and Jermaine Dupri, will follow the producer (born Timothy Mosley) as he guides aspiring vocalists and their parent-managers through challenges to test their skills. Each contestant will be vying for a spot on the super-producer’s imprint, Mosley Music Group.

Timbaland recently told Billboard of his motivation to get involved: 
"Being a mentor is what’s missing in music, It’s really artist development, and this is part of owning a record label. Now, everything is on the phone and everything is visual so I think this is the new way of showcasing artists. If I show you how the process is done, I think you’ll respect it more."

Timbo’s used to being around stars, and this show is no exception. Along with his team of writers and producers, acts like JoJo, Macy Gray, Nelly Furtado and Jordin Sparks will appear as special guests, helping hopefuls improve their vocals, image and onstage presence.

Timbaland, whose TV credits include Flashforward, Clash Time and Empire, also remembers his pre-fame days. In the early '90s, he was in a group called Surrounded by Idiots with Magoo and a then-unknown cousin named Pharrell Williams. Even at that time, Tim says he knew that they were "special." Now, he just wants to help put others in a similar position.

"When we were doing it, we just concentrated on ourselves," he recalls. "But when you do music, when you’re a trendsetter, and when people look up to you, you have a responsibly to go back and teach others. That’s my gift, going back and pointing out, 'You need to pay attention to this person.'"

For this series, Timbo’s asking viewers to keep their eyes on contestants like Ashlund Jade, Cravetay, Grant Landis, Ian Grey and Madysyn Rose, burgeoning acts with rising social media followings. Meanwhile, the budding stars are looking to soak up some of their’s mentor’s Grammy-winning wisdom.

"I feel like Timbaland was perfect for me," says Jade -- the youngest of the bunch at age 13. "That’s the exact style I want to go for in my career." Landis, the oldest contestant at 17, agrees: "I don’t know if there’s anyone better than him."

Just like his gleeful contestants, Timbaland is also excited for what’s to come. "All of these kids are like my kids," he says. Timbaland adds: "Music comes in all shapes and forms and I don’t know everything. I’m still learning. How I learn is from them, from the future coming up."

Produced by Flavor Unit Entertainment and Intuitive Entertainment, The Pop Game follows Lifetime’s success with The Rap Game. That series, led by Jermaine Dupri, is set to begin its third season Friday night (Jan. 13), while The Pop Game will premiere Feb. 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
