Timbaland to Sample Unreleased Marilyn Monroe Track

Timbaland is sampling the unreleased Marilyn Monroe track “Down Boy” after meeting with photographer and TV executive Jack Allen, who owns the rights to the song. The 43-year-old record producer is sampling the late “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” actress’ only unreleased track, a swing number titled ‘Down Boy’ 53 years after she died of an overdose, reported Contactmusic. he song – which has never been heard before – was originally recorded for the 1953 movie but while her rendition of “Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend’ became a hit, “Down Boy” was cut from the final edit. Timbaland – who produced Michael Jackson’s second posthumous album ‘Xscape’ in 2014 – is now working on a modern version of the track after meeting up with the owner to the rights, Hollywood resident Jack Allen. Jack was just four when Marilyn died in 1962 but he became fascinated with classic Hollywood star as a photographer and TV executive in Los Angeles.

Timbaland & V Bozeman Talk New Music And 'Opera Noir'

Timbaland is bringing passion back.

The superproducer released the first single from his forthcoming album Opera Noir this week, titled “Smile” featuring V. Bozeman.  REVOLT went to Atlantic City to catch up with the two artists and they maintained that the album will be soulful. Bozeman noted, “We really want to bring feeling back into music.  It’s like when I turn on the radio all I hear are computers now.  I don’t hear soul anymore.”

Timbaland, meanwhile, maintained that the body of work will come with visuals and tons of supporting elements.  “Opera Noir is about Timbaland’s life. He knows how to mix that old school with new school so well, he’s mastered it…I think Opera Noir will elevate music as a whole,” Bozeman added.

Timbaland Revealed Opera Noir Album To Feature JT, Missy Elliott & More

Timbaland was one of the presenters at Day 3 of theiHeart Music Summit in Burbank, CA yesterday where he revealedsome details about his upcoming, anticipated new album Opera Noir. 

Speaking on behalf of his Mosley Music Group label, Timbo revealed that he has bared his soul on the upcoming fourth studio album which will feature guests like Justin Timberlake, Missy Elliot and Empire TV star Veronika Bozeman. He also previewed the first single called ‘Smile‘ for the live audience which is due out in the coming weeks.
