Brandy x Timbaland - The Sessions

Brandy and Timbaland first started working together on the recording of Norwood’s album Afrodisiac in 2003. The album was released the following year to rave reviews.

Brandy and Timbaland would later work together again in 2008 for her Human album. Cuts including “Drum Life” did not make the final tracklist. Timbaland Presents Shock Value 2 (10th Anniversary)

Shock Value II is the third studio album by American record producer and rapper Timbaland. It serves as the second volume of the platinum-selling Shock Value (2007) which topped charts worldwide and received 16 platinum certifications.
Initially slated for a 2008 release, the project was pushed into 2009 and tentatively confirmed for November 23, 2009 through Blackground Records, however, it was pushed back once more and finally released on December 7, 2009 in the UK and December 8 in the US.

Timbaland spoke to MTV's Shaheem Reid back in July 2008 to confirm that he was working on the follow-up to his platinum-selling Shock Value. At the time he confirmed that he had one track with Madonna which although recorded for her album Hard Candy it had not been used and could end up on this album instead. He was insistent that he would also collaborate with Jordin Sparks, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus and T.I. However, none of these collaborations (except Miley Cyrus) made it to the final track list. He also said that alongside T-Pain who will definitely appear, he hoped to get Jay-Z on board, although he ultimately failed to do so.

"Shock Value 2" features a long list of guest artists, among them Justin Timberlake, Nelly Furtado, Brandy, Keri Hilson, JoJo, Drake, The Fray, Soshy, Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Daughtry and More...

.

the lead single for the album "Morning After Dark" with Timbaland's new artist SoShy. Timbaland described the song as
He added that "that record has the most unique sound from the whole album".

Timbaland told MTV that will.i.am's work on "I Gotta Feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas inspired him to make "If We Ever Meet Again": "When I did this song, I was in love with this record called..... you're gonna be surprised. The record didn't have anything to do with ['If We Ever Meet Again'], but when I heard [the Black Eyed Peas'] "I Gotta Feeling", I said, 'I want a record just like that on my album.' I said, 'I gotta do me a "I Gotta Feeling" record.' Me and one of my producers, Jim Beanz, we came up with this concept. I said, '["I Gotta Feeling"] is happy, but I like it.' It gives a good feeling".

Timbaland and Drake came about through a discussion between Mosley and Jay-Z. In an interview with Shaheem Reed of MTV News, Mosley quoted him saying "'Yo, man, you gonna wanna get in the studio with this guy named Drake. I'm telling you. He's the next cat.'" Mosley, Graham, and Harmon have collaborated on "Off That", featured on Jay-Z's eleventh studio album The Blueprint 3(2009). Timbaland stated that he was attracted to Drake because of his tone, saying "His tone is ridiculous right now. I love his tone."

The album did not chart as highly as the previous Shock Value album, which had debuted at number five in the US in 2007, with 138,000 copies sold in its first week. Instead, Shock Value II debuted on the U.S. Billboard 200 at an underwhelming number 36, with 37,834 copies in its first week. It fared better on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, entering at number seven. Similarly, in the United Kingdom, as well as in Ireland, the album only managed to chart at number 25 in its first week. These positions failed to match those of Shock Value I (2007) which reached number two and number one in the UK and Ireland respectively.

Timbaland's History Of #1 Hits With Female Artists

Timbaland fired off another heat seeker last week when he unveiled his newest protégé, Tink. The Chicago talent is not the first female the VA producer has stood behind in a room full of sharks, however. Aside from continuing to defend the legacy of his most well-known collaborator, Aaliyah, Timbo has a history of creating platinum hits with female superstars....

 Aaliyah

Timbaland and Missy were recruited to take Aaliyah to the next level when they handled the boards and songwriting, respectively, on her 1996 sophomore release One in a Million. Moving over two million copies, Timbaland’s magical beats took songs like “If Your Girl Only Knew” and “4 Page Letter” to the top of the charts. Their collaborative hits continued with more bangers like “Are You That Somebody” and Baby Girl made Timbo and his double-time production a household name.

  The Pussycat Dolls

Timbo produced and appeared on The Pussycat Dolls’ international hit “Wait a Minute” and helped take their 2005 debut PCD to multi-platinum heights. The VA producer also circled back around for their second album, Doll Domination, helping the pop divas solidify their run.

  Keri Hilson

Ms. Keri Baby has a string of hits with Timbaland as the two have proven to be quite the duo when it comes to creating music for themselves and others. Keri even signed with Tim’s Mosley Music Group back in 2006, releasing her gold-selling debut It’s A Perfect World in 2009 with him and appearing throughout Timbaland’s platinum-moving Shock Value project. Their hits together include “The Way I Are” and “Scream”

   Nelly Furtado

Timbaland manned production for Nelly Furtado’s biggest-selling album to date, 2006’s Loose. Moving over 12 million copies worldwide, the LP debuted at No. 1 with Timbo and his production protégé Danja crafting her sonic boom. Timbaland also appeared on the triple platinum-selling single “Promiscuous” while taking Nelly to new heights with hits like “Maneater” and “Say It Right.”

   Brandy

Brandy was already a star but Timbaland came through with his party style R&B funk for her fourth album,Afrodisiac. The gold-selling project featured Timbo on the title track as well as cuts like “Who Is She 2 U” and earned Brandy a nomination for Best Contemporary R&B Album at the 2005 Grammys.

     Rihanna

The VA music man provided a few of his platinum touches to Rih Rih’s “Rehab” and “Let Me Get That,” helping to keep the Barbadian beauty atop her pop throne of Top 20 singles.

  Madonna

Impressed with the fingerprints he left on the genre she’s responsible for helping to create, Queen of Pop Madonnaenlisted Timbo to lay his musical hands on her eleventh album Hard Candy back in 2008. Tim laid the backdrop for the free-spirited “Miles Away” and also rocked out with Madonna and Justin Timberlake on the dance floor-popping “4 Minutes.” The record debuted at the top, giving the “Vogue” singer her seventh consecutive No. 1.

   Missy Elliott
His greatest collaborator of the opposite sex, however, is none other than his hometown homie. Timbaland and Missy are as synonymous with each other as Superman and Wonder Woman as they've become superheroes of music for the past 20 years. Working in unison, they’ve sold over 20 million records and have a laundry list of hits together that include “Up Jumps Da Boogie,”  "The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly),” “One Minute Man” and “Gossip Folks.”
